What this site is

inches.me publishes measurement guides: unit conversions, and visual references that show what a given length in inches actually looks like using everyday objects. It is a reference site. It is not a shop, and it does not sell anything.

Who writes it

The guides are written and maintained by the editorial team behind inches.me. Every article is edited before publication, and measurement figures are checked against the sources listed below rather than copied from other websites.

How a guide is made

  1. Pick the subject. A length people actually search for, or a unit conversion they actually need.
  2. Establish the exact figures first. Conversions are computed from the official international standards — 1 inch = 2.54 cm by definition, 1 foot = 30.48 cm. Exact factors, never rounded intermediates.
  3. Source the real-world sizes. Each object quoted (phone, pan, tool, print, bottle) is taken from manufacturer specifications or a published standard dimension — not estimated by eye.
  4. Write it so it is usable. The number matters less than being able to picture it, so each guide explains what the size means in practice.
  5. Check before publishing. Conversions are re-computed, object sizes are re-verified, and anything that cannot be verified is left out rather than guessed.

Our sources

  • Conversion factors: the international yard and pound agreement (1 inch = 25.4 mm exactly), ISO and NIST references for units.
  • Object dimensions: manufacturer datasheets and product specifications, standard sizes published by industry bodies, and official format standards (ISO 216 for paper, ISO 216 / ANSI for print sizes).
  • Standard sizes: published standards for photo prints, display screens, clothing and hardware.

Accuracy

Conversions are exact by construction; only the display is rounded, and we say so where it happens. Real-world object sizes are typical figures — manufacturers change dimensions between models and regions, and every guide that lists objects says so. When we find an error, we correct the page rather than remove the evidence that it existed.

Updates

Guides are reviewed when a factor changes (a standard is revised, a product line is updated) or when a reader reports a mistake. Pages that have been meaningfully revised show a date of last update, so you can tell when a figure was last checked.

Independence

This site is editorially independent. Specifically:

  • No paid placements. We do not publish sponsored articles, advertorials or paid links. No company pays to appear here.
  • No affiliate links. We do not earn a commission when you buy something mentioned on the site, so no product is included to generate revenue.
  • No brands in charge. Brands appear only as size references (a 6-inch sub is 6 inches because that is the size it is sold at). Being named here means nothing more than that.

Corrections

A wrong figure is the one thing a measurement site cannot get away with. If a conversion or a listed size looks wrong, tell us at [email protected] with the page address and what you expected. Measurement errors are handled before anything else, and a correction is published on the page rather than quietly applied.
