Inches is an independent reference site about measurements in inches — how to convert them, and what they look like in real life.

What we do

Two things, kept deliberately simple:

  • Convert. Inches to centimetres, centimetres to inches, and the other units people actually search for (feet, millimetres, yards). Every conversion uses the exact international standard: one inch = 2.54 cm by definition, not an approximation.
  • Show. A number means nothing on its own. Our guides list everyday objects of a known size so you can picture what 5 inches or 6 inches actually looks like in your hand.

How our converters work

  1. We use the official conversion factors (1 in = 2.54 cm exactly, 1 ft = 30.48 cm), never rounded intermediates.
  2. Results are shown with sensible rounding, and we state where rounding happens.
  3. Each converter page is checked against the factor it claims to use; a wrong converter is worse than no converter.

Real-world sizes

Sizes quoted for everyday objects (phones, bottles, tools, screens) come from manufacturer specifications or standard product dimensions. Manufacturers do vary between models, so treat those figures as typical rather than exact — we say so on the pages themselves.

Independence

Inches is not affiliated with any brand, shop or manufacturer mentioned on the site. Products appear as size references, not as recommendations, and we do not sell anything.

Corrections

If a conversion looks wrong, tell us — see Contact. Conversion errors get fixed first, because they are the one thing this site cannot get away with.
